The Psychedelic Athenæum

From 2023 to 2025, we ran the Athenaeum — a member-supported psychedelic library and community center housed in the historic Blue Building in Midtown Manhattan.

Over the course of those two years, the Athenaeum hosted hundreds of events, from author talks and workshops to comedy nights, film screenings, puppet shows, and more — all centered around psychedelic education, exploration, and connection.

With shelves of rare books, warm lighting, and a sense of quiet magic, it became a cherished home for the NYC psychedelic community. Though its physical doors have now closed, the spirit of the Athenaeum lives on in the Assembly’s evolving work across New York City and beyond.
